Becoming a Member Laborers Local 785 has a New York State Approved Apprentice Program. This program is an "earn while you learn" program. Applications for the Apprentice Program are accepted year round. The application can be downloaded from this website, or call (607) 272-3122 to request one be mailed to you. Interviews for the Apprentice Program are held quarterly. Most apprentices are indentured in January of each year. Please see the training tab for more information. Messages are retrieved in the morning. YOUR TELEPHONE AND ADDRESS: It is very important that we have your current telephone and mailing address at all times. If you change your address and/or telephone number please remember to notify us immediately. UNION MEETINGS: Union meetings are held the second Thursday of each month. They are at 7:00 p.m. at the Laborers Local 785, Waverly Training Center, 180 Rt. 34 Waverly, NY14892. All members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings. Keep informed as to what is going on in your union and get to know your fellow members. UNION DUES: You are responsible for paying $35.00 per month union dues. This will increase every year by $1.00. This is in addition to the 6% dues deducted by your employer from your gross wages. Your Constitution states, "Dues are due the first day of the month and must be paid by the last day of the second month or the member is deemed suspended by the Laborers’ International Union without notice." Please note that you must hold a union book/card in order to hold a union job. Contractors/Employers are notified immediately of suspensions.
